Community support requests
Communities have asked for support:
- TO rebuild feeding kitchens
- AND ALSO to provide quality early years
education and development services for
the most disadvantaged children in
their communities
Why returns are high
The benefits of pre-school education for children living in poverty are so high because:
A: rapid early brain
development means lack of
early use impares later
capacity
B: children in poor families get
lower quantity and quality
of development
interactions (e.g. verbal)
Children 6 months to 2 years
Yes it does make a difference
“Ayanda” is from a
very poor family in
Mpolonjeni
“Ayanda” graduated from our preschool in Nkoyoyo last year.
She:
•
went to one of the better primary schools in Mbabane
•
came 6th out of 60 in the first term
•
scored above average marks in every subject
Her brother will graduate next year and we have arranged for
a donor to help his family pay for transport and school
expenses to enable him to join his sister at the same primary
school
Do you think “Ayanda” and her brother have a good chance of breaking
out of the poverty cycle?
If so please help fund a preschool place like theirs, because you know
it does make a difference.
